The internet’s boyfriend Timothée Chalamet has revealed he’s taking a break from acting after a taxing couple of years.

Having just completed a slew of films, including The King, Little Women, Dune and Wes Anderson’s The French Dispatch, it’s time for the 23-year-old to take a well-deserved break, and enjoy it.

Appearing alongside Saoirse Ronan in a new Entertainment Weekly profile to promote Greta Gerwig’s Little Women adaptation, the Call Me By Your Name Actor says he’s looking forward “savouring” some down time.

“It’s the first time in almost two years I’ve gotten a breath, so I’m savouring it,” said Timothée.

One can only imagine what a hiatus for Timothée might look like. Perhaps the actor will carve out some quality time with his girlfriend and The King co-star Lily-Rose Depp? The pair have been described as Hollywood’s new power couple and after their first red carpet together at the 2019 Venice Film Festival, it was clear to all closely watching this budding romance that their power moves extend beyond acting and reach their shared style prowess too.

Or perhaps Timothée will fill his break with the written word, revealing he has aspirations to write a biography of sorts, though whatever form it takes, it may not be for public consumption, unfortunately.

“Whatever book I write for myself when I’m older, to look back on,” Timothée let slip in the Entertainment Weekly interview before stopping himself and telling Ronan and journalist David Canfield: “Well, this is a bigger conversation.”

Putting Timothée’s cryptic words aside for now, it’s not all devastating news for those sliding into mourning at hearing of the hiatus, as André Aciman’s Call Me By Your Name sequel, Find Me, is out October 29, with both Elio and Oliver are set to return.

“They are clearly more mature now and know how fragile life can be,” Aciman told Vogue of Elio and Oliver reuniting in Find Me. “They have both had other relationships, they know that they have to be careful and that a separation, should it occur again, would be devastating. Find Me gave me a sense of closure and finality. Of course, life is full of surprises and no road is without bumps or wrong turns. But I think this ends the tale of Elio and Oliver.”

And if Find Me only tides you over for a short while, there are sure to be dozens of red carpet appearances in the future as Timothée hits the road to promote Little Women, Dune and The French Dispatch.
